What do Leftists want?
Or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Start Writing Project 2029
I. Preamble
Matt Yglesias had an incredible supposition the other day: that the American Left would not and could not support Mexico's MORENA Party if they knew the real truth of what that party actually supported beyond memes and vibes, which he dared to call ‘moderate-coded’. In a crude sense, he's correct. If you dove headfirst into a pit of Yglesian neurons, you too might reach a similar simplistic conclusion. Indeed, a Mexican political party or indeed any other nation’s political party transplanted one-for-one into America might run into policies we otherwise call “Left” or “Right” or even “Center”.
But MORENA isn't a white paper of policy statements or a staid theoretical: it is a real social movement, popular with upwards of 80% of the Mexican population, a party that has achieved universally positive benefits for its people. A simple question: has MORENA delivered a livelihood improvement to the people? Not only have they done that, but they represent the first government in North America to have done so in over 50 years.
And we must ask: are the people of Mexico healthier? Happier? Richer, both in income and quality of life? The answer is a resounding yes, to all questions. Mexico is finally climbing out of its interminable decline as a passive satellite of US interests and instead become a real geopolitical economic force, made possible only by MORENA’s popular and near-militant leadership.
Our lesson from MORENA is not their ideology as such, but their will to power: their ability to capture it, and to use it to transform their society for the betterment of their people. If that is Left-coded, or Moderate-coded, or Right-coded, should not matter, for it is correct in whatever way you want to define it.
What we see in the US by comparison are leaders that are either traitors or feckless fascists. On the one side we have Republicans: vile cretins undeserving of sympathy and filled with meek, pathetic white nationalist hangers-on. Their brand of politics is poison: white supremacy may make a person feel temporarily superior, but it won’t make them healthier and ultimately happier. And on the other hand, there are the Democrats, a punchline of a joke, who are the last true remaining conservative party, seeking to maintain an already vanquished status quo of an already moribund politics. We speak truly: if Americans elect the Democrats in 2029, and the Democrats in turn only manage to succeed in turning back the clock to January 19, 2025, they will be world historical failures deserving only of electoral oblivion.
The American people, a vast majority, demand action. They are not “liberal” for “liberalism” as exists in popular memory is as dead and dying as Carter and Clinton. Neither are they conservative: no one wants to preserve the world as-is save for the unimaginative and the banally corrupt. Nor does anyone truly want a thousand-year Groyperreich, as the Republicans promise us, with its culture wars and oligarchic capture of the state.
The American people want more: more wealth, more health, more everything—a heaven on Earth, if they were brave enough to speak those words out loud. And you know what? They're right to demand it. It is your entitlement, your fundamental right, to demand a better life for yourself and for everyone who now exists and will exist.
If that's socialism, if that's communism, if that's Leftism, or whatever, whatever: that does not matter, for it is RIGHT. It is right that life should improve from birth to long life to death, and that we all should observe such change in our lifetimes. Nevermore shall we turn back to hunt-and-gather, or to otherwise resurrect dead empires. We are forward, progressive—in a way that transcends the lewd, grotesquerie of the early 20th century, and all other centuries that came before.
In other words, a MORENA in style if not precise form is exactly what the doctor ordered. This doesn't necessarily mean a new political party. Like stated above, what Matt disparages as the Left can instead be broadly defined as a supermajority of the American electorate: they need only be activated with the right message, the right leadership, and the proper resources. We can take our country back from the goons in DC, from the DOGEcrats and the groypers alike, but only if we rally, truly rally, the masses to the correct cause. And if the Democrats take up the banner, purging the conservacrats within—all the better. Carrion meat after all is not totally without worth.
This is then Project 2029, a direct response and challenge to the fascist core’s Project 2025. Where they seek to divide, we will unify. Where they seek to destroy, we will build. Where they seek to debase, we will uphold.
We will not only restore the United States of America as a functioning country that improves the lives of all immediately and over the course of many decades, but also build to ensure global, perpetual peace, enshrining a future true bliss as we enter the centuries to come. We offer an alternative to the ravages of the modern economy, to meek misery and blasé existence. That is what all we want. Not a resurrection of past campaigns and regimes but something entirely new: a new vision, a new future. That is what we will achieve, and that is what will happen.
And the call isn't coming: it’s here. Shall Trump and his minions dominate? Sleep then, sleep now. For the hour is at hand, and delay itself brooks endless fatalities. Bestir yourself and your friends therefore: raise the call to action from every village and town to every major street corner. For as MORENA is a popular, mass movement, so too do we need the same here if we are to have any hope for victory.
Spread this message, like birds on wind, letting wings flap high and low, covering the land in a single thrum. There can be no mistake in the central message, it's purity so clean we might as well stamp it on gold: “YOUR LIFE CAN BE BETTER”. That is all we can truly promise, and all we will truly uphold, for with power, our message will become: “YOUR LIFE WILL BE BETTER”. Never should we speak in past tense, for ever is there more work to do: we must forever struggle prove to the masses that we are worthy of their trust, bowing to the popular wisdom as the ages turn. If ever we fail in our mission, let us be struck down and a new movement take our place. We will have deserved our oblivion!
Who is Project 2029 for?
It is for the hungry. The beleaguered. The you and the me and the all who have observed our nation with conscious thought and found something wanting. If you have eyes to see, you see. If you have ears to listen, you listen. But even the Kellerites amongst us know: our world is flawed. And there is so, so much more work to be done. All under Heaven is torn asunder by wars, famines, and genocides. Our eternal duty is to stand athwart this endless tide and machinate it to stop, by effort and sacrifice and all other means within our disposal, from our first breath until our last.
It is for the Democrat—all those disillusioned and dispirited by endless failures.
It is for the Republicans and Independents—those who have seen the hurt the Trumpist regime brings and have decided to turn against it.
It is for the faithless, the homeless, the powerless: where hope is a bleak cauldron, let this candle shine.
It is for the almighty and powerful who are willing to forgo immediate material gain for perpetual material and spiritual gain.
It is, in other words, for all, by all, to an everlasting victory.
II OVERVIEW FOR PROJECT 2029
What does the Left really want then? Simple: power.
Nothing else can be done without it. We want power. We need power. Power is both sum and means to its own purpose, each orbiting each other eternally. The power of purpose is power: to act, to change the material world to the benefit of all. It’s as simple as that. And Trump, in his way, has given us the precedent we need, by making clear that the federal government has in effect unlimited power to act on behalf of the people. After all, if the Congress and the Courts both authorize unlimited military and economic force in the sole hands of the President: what does it matter what the Constitution says? Whereas Trump uses such power for monstrosities though, we shall build wonders.
With the President endowed with the sole supreme power to act, without waiting for the pleasure of bureaucracy or the courts to approve or reject any of it, the President becomes in their person the unblemished democratic will and force of the people united; as in, the Popular Sovereignty of the Majority. They should act as such without hesitation or waste.
To grasp this power: it must be gained through legitimate means—a Presidential election, the next scheduled in 2028, that, if victorious under the purview of this manifesto, will unleash the gains prescribed within. Nevermore shall we wait for 50 or 60 Senators, pray heed to the Parliamentarian or fret about the Filibuster. To our enemies in the Congress and the Courts: in 2025, you sent us to labor camps in El Salvador. Imagine our retribution—for it will come, and we will make no excuses for the tyranny as you made no excuses for yours.
And, to be clear, only this manifesto can achieve victory, by cutting through both Washington Consensus jargon and means-tested garbage to deliver a concise portfolio of true revolutionary betterment for all, in line with what the people actually want and would not only vote for, but fight for. Forget the policy battles of the past, of this slogan or that. We write our own history, make our own legend. We’re better than those who died on distant hills—upon our hills, we shall build an eternal city—a civilization that deserves its golden age.
Nor are we merely rephrasing old ideas under new names. We aren’t, in other words, Abundists—or as they should be known: technocratic neoliberals, as ancient as that moribund philosophy. This is something new, something different: something precise, with clear tangible goals and aims.
But it all requires power—and that power is a pact to the American people. Give us this power, and we shall with a stroke of a pen, enact it all. If it fails, cast us all out of office and manacle us in shame. Let our name be mud and our deeds infamous. But if we succeed, give us more time, time and time again, until that which we envision has been made so. This isn’t an elite manifesto, a Left, a socialist, a populist, a anything! manifesto: it is YOUR manifesto. These are things YOU want. For there is no other way: if you want power, not just in 2029 but beyond, you will say and do these things, for your own good.
For the American people will not resolve themselves to patience. Fail to enact the 2029 agenda, and the American people will oust you in 2031. Time is of the critical essence, and this grand strategy must be executed with military precision. The stakes are just as high: if we fail in 2029 or later, we will not survive, either the next fascist administration or the climate apocalypse. It will be too late for us; project 2034 will be about building mineshafts to escape the hostile, toxic air and little else.
So read on, learn on, fight on. Achieve that power which you so crave, that you are so entitled to. If destiny exists, let it be within these pages.
As a final aside for those resident, loyal Democrats aspiring to run in 2029: this manifesto can either be your boon or your downfall. I hope it is yours and our personal redemptions, our combined newfound salvation. Make this your creed and you shall win. Refuse, and you shall never see be the legitimate executive. Your hand is on the mantle of history. Will you take it up?
III. What Is To Be Done
i. Constitutional and Legal Reform
Congressional Reform
Congress must not only represent the people, but enact their will.
Until such time as all measures described herein are enacted, the Congress should be in PERMANENT SESSION. No adjournment or recesses should be tolerated until the great national emergency has been resolved.
Mandate the retirement of every member of Congress above the age of 75, with exceptions made only by express majority approval of their House of Congress. Any member elected over the age of 75 should be refused to be recognized by that House, and the district itself remain unrepresented until a valid member is seated.
All laws passed by Congress from the 1st Congress until the 2000 session should be amended and modernized into a single streamlined US Legal Code. Parts no longer applicable should be fully removed in the text, competing statues combined, and general grammatical modernizations conducted.
All new laws should include a clause exempting itself from any and all judicial review, until such time that a proper constitutional court can be established.
Congress should absolve itself of all constituent services and duties, with a special department created under the executive branch to handle such affairs.
Congress should abolish the existing committee structure, which itself will exist only on a temporary, ad-hoc, as-needed basis to review and recommend new rules and bills before their respective bodies.
In lieu of constituent services and committee work, Congress should establish Representatives-On-Mission, a special position possessing both advisory and limited managerial powers across every executive, judicial, and military department, agency, and office, to ensure the spirit and letter of law as enacted is followed. This level of daily, hands-on experience, will give Congress better control and oversight than any committee ever could.
Congress should pass a law allowing itself to fund all its administrative needs directly from the Treasury, to not exceed $35 billion per year. This will allow it to adequately shift staffing requirements and needs to appropriately legislate and execute the law.
Congress should be able to write its own laws without needing input from private law firms.
Congress should increase the size of the House to 655 total representatives from the current total maximum of 435.
Each federally recognized tribe with a population of over 30,000 should be allocated the 1 voting representative in the House and 2 senators in the Senate. In 2025, this would represent a total of 7 tribes, or 7 Representatives and 14 Senators. All other tribes should be afforded one representative and 2 senators combined, for a grand total reserved to the Indigenous population (subject to change due to population growth) of 8 Representatives and 16 Senators.
More New States
Creating new political possibilities.
Add Puerto Rico and D.C. as fully legitimate and recognized US states. Add every other overseas territory (Guam, American Samoa, etc) and property into a single, combined United Overseas State.
Add the metropoles of any established metropolis with a population over 1 million as its own fully recognized and legitimate state. In 2024 numbers, this would create an additional 54 states.
In sum, create 57 new states for a total of 107 states.
Campaign Finance Reform
Let the best candidate, the best message, the best party win, with equal reach.
Every ballot-qualified (in the total jurisdiction they are running for) candidate for office shall be given a budget of, Treasury-paid, 1 30 second television advertisement, 1 30 second radio advertisement, 3 mass mail pieces, and 9 social media pieces, targeted to all registered voters in the jurisdiction they are running for.
Private advertisements beyond the above budget, excluding in-person events and meetings, should be construed legally as election interference, as receive the same punishment as ballot tampering or similar act.
Enforce the Laws
We will have justice.
Establish a special Article III court, the United States National Civic Tribunal, beholden only to enacting legislation and presidential direction, to try any and all such capital cases as the Congress and President direct it to. The Supreme Court shall enjoy no right of appeal or jurisdiction.
Arrest and try all those involved in the 2000 Election Steal in this civic tribunal, for crimes against the state, the people, and our national democracy.
Arrest and try all those involved in January 6 Coup d’Etat in this civic tribunal, for crimes against the state, the people, and our national democracy.
Arrest and try all those involved who willfully participated as a political appointee of the executive branch, the chiefs of the departments, the executive itself, and the Vice President, as well as members of Congress who authorized and waged the invasion of Iraq in this civic tribunal, for crimes against international peace and order.
Arrest and try all those involved who willfully participated in mismanaging the disaster response as a government official with regards to Hurricane Katrina or the Covid-19 Pandemic in this civic tribunal, for crimes against the state and the people.
Arrest and try all those involved who willfully contributed to the underlying causation of the 2008 Great Recession in this civic tribunal, for crimes against the state and the people.
In these trials, punishment shall be swift, with a national popular appeal only enjoyable by concurring Resolutions in both Houses and the President for individuals.
Abolish the Death Penalty for Most Cases
Only the worst traitors need to die.
In all cases, excluding: corruption trials, civic and military tribunals, impeachment, or Constitutional treason trials: abolish the death penalty.
Prison Reform
We cannot continue to waste time and resources.
Set a 0.1% legal maximum limit of the adult population in prison. At no point should we jail more than 0.1% of the population. To do so is a societal failure and should be met with an immediate reduction of the incarcerated population, in local, state, and federal prisons.
Abolish slavery as a valid punishment. The goal of prison is to ensure that whatever crime that person committed will not be committed again, or any other crime. This should be constantly evaluated and tested, establishing a regime of short prison sentences followed by quick reintroduction into the legal labor market as productive citizens once again.
Abolish needless, costly, and indefinite prison sentences. By proving through deed and act, that they shall not violate any further laws through a prison-to-parole program, we can keep our prisons near-empty and our national economy humming to the tune of growth and progress. lasting a total maximum of ten years, with a maximum of five years in prison and five years in parole. For those deemed likely to reoffend or violate the laws, in such a way that a future arrest is likely and plausible, it shall be the duty of the government to study a way to productively utilize these citizens, without violating their human or international rights. The solution will not be indefinite prison for these people, but something new and better.
Create a superseding, superior Federal Police
Make the police beholden to the people.
Place all law enforcement, including all local and state entities, under a single, unified Federal Police department, reportable in the chain of command to the President under his Article II Commander in Chief powers.
Abolish all police unions and collective bargaining arrangements. The Army cannot bargain for collective labor rights and neither should the police.
Reduce the visible physical footprint of all police forces to be as minimum as possible. With drones, satellites, radar, and wifi-enabled vehicles and cellular devices, there is no need for the modern patrol car. There is likewise no need for armored vehicles or helicopter spotlights. Tactical deployments, if truly needed for events like mass shootings, can be conducted on fast motorbikes and smaller tactical helicopters, by highly trained and motivated forces. As we’ve seen in school shooting after school shooting, the local peabodied cop is simply incapable of dealing with a hail of hot metal aimed at their corpulent selves. And thus fine: we will abolish them. All that will remain of the police forces will be the detectives, the technical and managerial staff, the tactical forces, and a small cadre of bailiffs and sheriffs who conduct arrests and other public force utilizations.
Strengthen Free Speech Laws
Speak your truth.
No person should be arrested for making any unactionable threat, or any other similar phrase that does not involve any physical steps taken to enact any such deed. Public popular anger, especially that towards elected officials, should not only be legal but encouraged. Self-censorship is as a sin as censorship.
No person should be made to feel afraid or threatened (of either life, limb, or property) by any other person’s speech. This should be illegal and punishable under the law.
No person should espouse ideologies of racial or ethnic hatred. This should be illegal and punishable under the law.
Anti-Semitism
Protect our Jewish citizens
No definition of Anti-Semitism should incorporate any country, geographic or otherwise, in its scope. Anti-Semitism should instead refer specifically to a hatred of Jews and Jewish people in general or in specific, where any reasonable person may conclude “they wish to violate international laws of genocide and related statutes” through both speech and deeds.
The government should otherwise prosecute anti-Semitic Nazis & fascists before civic tribunals. In other words, marching in a public space shouting anti-Semitic slurs and Hitlerite rhetoric should lead to an automatic prison sentence.
Citizenship Reform
If you’re here, building ‘it’, you are a part of ‘IT’
For all current individuals with some permanent legal residency, grant them all automatic US citizenship.
For all current individuals lacking a legal visa or other residency documentation, offer them a choice between: paid repatriation to their home country (or country of their choice, provided that country accepts), a temporary 1 year renewable work permit, or full citizenship (available only to those who can commit to living and working in the United States for at least 9 months out of the year, and who have taken steps to apply for permanent residency).
For all current individuals on some temporary visa, maintain the status quo.
Streamline the visa to citizen pipeline: if someone has lived and worked here for three years (via yearly, renewable work visas), they should be eligible for citizenship, subject only to limitations and quotas set by Congress.
Constitutional Reform
Responsive to an ever-changing future.
Pass the 28th Amendment, allowing a majority of Congress, with the President concurring, to pose legally-binding Constitutional questions before the electoral college to a majority of the voting public. In other words, allow a majority of Congress, the President, and the People, to change the Constitution every four years.
Further constitutional changes to increase the active democratic participation of the people should be enacted as the next constitutional reform.
ii. We Shall Build the Future
Build World Class Infrastructure
Imagination is our only limit.
By 2033, the United States should have world class ports that compete peer-for-peer with every other nation in all categories of speed, reliability, and safety.
By 2035, the United States should have a transcontinental high speed railroad.
By 2040, build a transcontinental canal system. You should be able to pilot a cargo ship from Los Angeles to New York, and back, with a goal to connect all major metropolitan areas via this network of canals.
By 2045, the US should have a national high speed rail grid that has connected all cities above a population of 500,000 to one another.
Electric vehicle production should be made mandatory by 2050, with further additional carbon vehicle production restricted only to valid reasons relating to the national defense or other extenuating factors.
Build World Class Electrical Production and Environmental Standards
Unlimited power, responsibly generated.
Actually enforce the national standards on air and water quality by streamlining the appeals process and enforcing the laws as-written.
Achieve net zero carbon emissions by 2040, and total zero carbon emissions by 2100.
Build the Great Solar Megalith, a vast conversion of public lands in the American Southwest into massive solar farms, stretching across our desert and arid environs to maximize our solar energy potential, capable of generating enough electricity to power a quarter of domestic demand by 2035.
Build the Great Turbine Wall along the Great Plains in a North-South axis, capable of generating enough electricity to power a tenth of domestic demand by 2035.
Build enough nuclear power plants to power the remainder of national electrical needs (65%) by 2050, with a phase out of domestic natural gas and petroleum envisioned during that time.
Maintain greenhouse gas exports to international markets, tied to a development plan that each recipient nation must adhere to that mandates their electrical transition in a similar fashion—part wind, part solar, part nuclear—away from fossil fuels.
At the same time, build large modern battery production plants to become a net energy exporter to other nations, transporting raw power direct to other countries—by 2075, this should replace fossil fuel utilization entirely.
Build the Great Hydrodam Wall, a bicoastal hydrodam that captures natural tidal coastal energy that by 2075, it should generate enough electrical power for both Americas for the next century.
Build Mass Housing
More houses, now.
Build enough housing to meet existing demand at every city with a population above 500,000.
The government should not only fund but construct themselves (that is, to have government-employed engineers, architects, electricians, plumbers, pipers, fitters, etc.), with minority at-most private investment, and with new housing that meets existing and projected demand around/near existing metropoles connected through government-constructed high speed rail.
Carve out a sliver of public land on the outskirts of major cities to serve as open housing for those who do not want or cannot live in apartments or other forms of regimented private property and traditional housing. The government should provide sanitation, policing, health and mental care, at Treasury-cost, in return for these communities paying tribute in the form of cash or labor, paid for by the community as a whole (in lieu of direct individual taxation). Everyone who chooses to live in these communities will be assigned a lot of personal property, with a general commons owned by the community as a whole representing 80% of land consigned to the community, with community leaders elected directly by all those who live in said communities. They will otherwise maintain all other duties and responsibilities of a citizen in the United States.
iii. Consumer is King
Agriculture Reform
The farmer should be as well paid as a software engineer.
The federal government should become the majority shareholder of every domestic food producer and distributor, with the following goals:
to keep domestic consumer food prices low
to keep production and distribution wages high
to balance the national diet with a mindset to increase diet diversity & taste, to improve health outcomes, and to balance food sources
to establish a National Food Granary, filled with enough food to feed the entire population for three months, to ensure price stability as well as national survival
to otherwise be a net exporter of cash crops, advanced crops, and industrial-grade crops to other countries for national profit
Ban the use of imported migrant labor, used to skirt labor laws and human laws.
Reduce Consumer Healthcare Costs to Zero
We will be healthy.
Establish the government as the majority shareholder of every major pharmaceutical, hospital, and otherwise healthcare provider company, to reduce drug and patient prices to zero.
Mandate the national registration and employment of doctors, nurses, and similar healthcare staff to be under the direct employment of the government. Increase salaries, with higher salaries being paid to those who live and work in less populated or rural areas.
Any and all other expenditures incurred by healthcare providers to be handled by the US government, in negotiation with those providers; no patient involvement in payment whatsoever.
Establish a Healthcare Bill of Rights
Your body, your choice.
This bill of rights shall include: the rights of every patient, the duties of every medical professional, the standard of care, and the establishment of the model of informed consent for all treatments.
Specifically: make abortion, transgender health service, and another health service targeted by Republicans accessible to all, utilizing the model of informed consent.
Improve Parenting Standards
The next generations will be the first truly lucky ones.
Equip and train all prospective and existing parents with the equipment, tools, and tips they will need to ensure all children are reared properly following a basic standard of care.
Accelerate the adoption process to ensure no child remains in the foster system for longer than 12 months.
Reform the foster system by placing it in the care of medical and educational professionals, under direct management of the executive.
Give direct cash payouts per year to each parent of a child until that child reaches adulthood, to incentivize the creation of more citizens while also paying for the ever-increasing cost of living.
Improve Elder Care Standards
Filial piety.
Nationalize all senior and elder care facilities under a single executive department, under direct control of the President and his appointees.
Establish a national standard of care for the elderly (defined as anyone who is eligible to receive social security benefits).
Encourage all retirees to continue creating productive goods and services in retirement, contributing in various economies including but not limited to: new research, new art, new artisan goods, et cetera. Old age need not be a long, dreary wait for death, but rather a renewed invigoration of natural individual will, absent the alienating work one did in their middle age.
Reduce the official retirement age to 64 by 2035, to 62 by 2045, and to 60 by 2065.
Expand Social Security
We shall be wealthy in our old age.
Allow everyone to invest, in addition to regular social security, into a nationally syndicated pension/401k program, which in turn invests the national sovereign wealth into private and public funds, for maximal return.
Increase base social security payouts to cover the cost of living anywhere in the country, and increase it thereafter based on inflation calculated by a basket of goods including food, fuel, and housing costs.
Increase the Minimum Wage
We shall be wealthy in our youth and middle ages.
Increase the base minimum wage from $7.25 to $18.75 by the end of 2029. Increase it thereafter by the inflation rate (including cost of debt and food costs) per annum.
Strengthen labor investigation powers and abilities to ensure no one is paid less than the minimum wage, regardless of citizenship status.
Education Standardization
We will know how to build the economies of the future.
Attendance of any form of education should be free to parents and individuals taught up until the age of 30 for Doctorates, 27 for Masters, 25 for undergraduates, and 23 for non-college post-secondary schools.
Centralize the management, employment, and licensure of all teachers and related professionals into a single Federal department, abolishing independent local and state education boards.
Raise all teacher salaries, with higher salaries paid for more remote and rural areas.
Abolish unlicensed home schooling as degree-equivalent education.
Create and enforce a universal basic standard of care for education: a singular curricula implemented nationally and updated regularly with input from child psychologists, early childhood development researchers, teachers, and parents. This curricula should have as its goal that all students on graduation should be prepared to exist in society as a functioning member therein, meaning, they should have basic literacy and competency in: computer science, history, biology, physics, English, at minimum one non-English language, arithmetic, logic, chemistry, finances, politics, and any trade/profession they seek to make their wages in.
College & University Reform
The Panopticon of Knowledge
In conjunction with national industrial and economic plans, set a quota of graduates per year, designed to ensure that the US maintains a competitive edge across the broad spectrum of professional careers.
Beyond economic needs, establish a national standard for knowledge advancements. Every college field should be required to discover or invent new things every year, and every year more and newer things, with funding directly tied to things discovered or invented. They shall in other words be knowledge factories, for gains we cannot yet imagine, for futures we make possible only through early mass investment.
Make all government funded research open-source, free, and openly accessible to every citizen, excluding those topics related to the national defense.
Recognizing that not everyone needs or should have a college degree, create and maintain wage-competitive alternative career paths for all individuals who don't want or need higher education, such as direct-to-employment trade schools and guildhalls.
Technology & Privacy Reform
We will smash the chains of the algorithm.
Ban the use of all social media to anyone under the age of 18.
Pass a data protection law as strong or stronger than the European GDPR.
Ban the use or creation of AI whose training models contain copyrighted material garnered illegally.
Ban the sale or use of non-fungible tokens on the blockchain.
Ban all cryptocurrencies that do not register as securities and follow existing banking laws and regulations.
Seize the corporations of Tesla, SpaceX, the Boring Company, and any other affiliated Elon Musk asset under civil asset forfeiture. The government will then decide to either liquidate all assets related to those companies or run it themselves as a state-run enterprise.
Win the War on Drugs
Economics will win what bullets could not.
Nationalize the production, distribution, and sale of currently illegal drugs, to ensure that illicit drug use is conducted in safe environments to lower the risk of disease, infections, and overdoses, while at the same time being in geographical centers of treatment and recovery. Should you find yourself doing illicit drugs: the government will allow you to partake within a parameter, but be ever willing and able to drag you to treatment.
Use economics to cripple the private drug market. The government can sell and distribute, thanks to the US treasury, at rates uneconomical for any private producer. The government should use this near-magical power to cripple the existence of non-regulated cartels.
By 2050, drug usage should be at a global all time minimum.
US Postal Service
A world class postal service.
Bring the USPS back under direct Presidential control.
Expand the budget of the USPS to allow for 24/7 delivery and receipt of all packages and mail items, as well as increasing speed of services by hiring as many employees and ordering as many vehicles and new facilities it would take to make this a reality.
Arts and Culture
A Cultural Revolution.
Increase the budget for the National Endowments of Arts to directly employ a class numbering less than one million persons, of writers, painters, philosophers, filmmakers, video game makers, artists, designers, critics, culinarians, and anyone else involved in the creative markets. Membership in this class, with its monetary benefits, expire in five years, during which time, the member should be able to live a profitable life with the cultural products they have produced and will continue to produce.
Allow the public to affix to public buildings big posters or graffiti markings with their public comment on government or general activities (subject to removal based on time and taste only).
iv. Financial Reform
Cut Taxes
Read these lips.
Note: These rates include state and local taxes. The federal government shall cover any drop in revenue to those governments.
For annual incomes of less than $45,000, announce a tax jubilee of three years, after which the rate will be set at 2.5% of annual income.
For annual incomes of less than $75,000, cut taxes to 5% of annual income.
For annual incomes of less than $150,000, cut taxes to 10% of annual income.
For annual incomes of $150,000 or more, raise the rate per ten thousand dollars by .01% until the rate reaches 30% or 30 million dollars of income per year per taxpayer.
For net worths between $30 million to $1 billion, raise the annual tax rate to 90%.
For net worths exceeding $1 billion, raise the annual tax rate to 99.99%. In other words, if you manage to become a billionaire, you should lose that status very quickly, knocking you down to a lower tax bracket as excess wealth is taxed.
Apply the same rates as described above to the estate tax, excluding all those who are worth less than $3 million at time of death, whose estate tax rate shall be zero.
Revoke megachurch scam preacher tax exemptions.
Allow the business tax rate to float under the direction of the President.
Pass a law mandating that state legislatures be sovereign in setting their own property tax rates.
Pass a law banning sales taxes across all US jurisdictions.
Cut The Deficit
We shall not go the way of the French.
Reduce the deficit to a base annual maximum of 10% difference between revenues and expenditures by 2033. In 2024, when the deficit was $6.75 trillion, this would’ve reduced the deficit to $5.412 trillion.
Federal Reserve
A National US Bank
Audit the Federal Reserve.
Put the Federal Reserve under direct Presidential control and add further functions:
A National US Bank, with every citizen given a free checking and savings account. These accounts will be used to collect government payments and may be used for personal goods and services.
Extend every citizen lines of credit dependent on income and credit rating.
National investments and deposit of Treasury dollars.
Maintain the Fed’s dual mandate of lowering inflation and unemployment as-is.
v. World Affairs
Achieve World Peace
We’ve got an idea.
Working with the United Nations Security council, establish, the Universal Global Ceasefire of all active armed conflicts by 2034. This will be made possible only through the joint and combined enforcement powers of the United Nations Security Council Permanent Members.
Abolish all military alliances, including NATO. The only international alliance that should have the force of law and arms is the UNITED NATIONS, as originally envisioned by President Franklin Roosevelt.
End World Hunger
There will be no more hunger.
Establish a World Food Fund, led by the largest and most successful agricultural export nations, to establish a universal basic diet of staple goods. This fund will provide direct food assistance to populations and governments that cannot feed themselves by their individual means.
By 2040, no person should die of hunger anywhere in the world.
By 2050, each country in the world should have access to a stable food reserve capable of feeding their entire civilian population for up to six weeks, to be used in times of drought and pestilence.
By 2100, each country should be self-sufficient, either individually or regionally, in their own domestic food production.
Expand the Chemical Warfare Treaty Ban
Breathe deeply and freely.
Expand and enforce the ban of chemical warfare to include any and all anti-civilian use, including tear gas.
Reduce the quantity of chemical, biological, and nerve warfare weapons to zero by 2100, placing any remaining stockpiles thereafter under the control of the UN Security Council.
The New Washington Consensus
There will be no more suffering.
General Policy
Create the Open Seas Initiative to compete (via normal and legal competitive bids) with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. Whatever the Belt and Road Initiative builds, the Open Seas Initiative must build better, faster, and cheaper, and in vaster numbers.
Increase the number of US Foreign Service employees to a base of 45,000 from a 2024 number of 18,000. Their job will be conducting mass goodwill and cultural diplomacy, to improve global opinions of America and thus better secure our homeland from terrorist or otherwise global resentment.
Increase all other diplomatic employment by 10%. Use increased diplomatic staff to maximize trade and bilateral relations with all countries.
Establish the United Nations Tort & Reparations Commission, to ensure the just and proper monetary repayment of all nations who have been victims of apartheid, slavery, genocide, and any other established international crime committed since 1900.
Establish the United Nations Grand Historical Commission, to do the same as the above but for crimes committed before 1900.
Uphold the United Nations Charter by pursuing and maintaining the full demilitarization of Japan and Germany until the year 2100, renewable indefinitely with consensus of all UNSC Permanent Members every 99 years thereafter.
Restore full diplomatic and economic relations with Cuba, Venezuela, and any other nations with which we have cut relations off with, by the time the Universal Global Ceasefire is in effect.
Enroll each federally recognized tribe with a population of over 30,000 into the United Nations as fully recognized member states, and encourage other nations with similar & significant Indigenous populations to do likewise.
The United Nations Security Council should be the main guarantors of world peace and global economic stability, as well as act as the main defenders of international law. Begin a diplomatic initiative within the permanent security council to calm world tension and seek the establishment of a world based on peace and harmony, using the Universal Global Ceasefire as the immediate goal.
Dismantle any remaining unexploded US ordinance dropped in past conflicts by 2050.
Asia Policy
Negotiate an honorable Peace, Amity, and Trade Treaty with the People’s Republic of China in such a way that ensures no major shooting war occurs in the Pacific Ocean for at least 50 years.
Push for an end to the Chinese Civil War by reconciling the governments of Taiwan and the People’s Republic of China. The PRC should respect the right of Taiwan to self-determine and self-govern, established de facto through 75+ years of self-rule, and Taiwan should likewise respect that as the losing side of the civil war, they must reassimilate fully back into the suzerainty of People’s Republic of China, with their military, foreign affairs, and economic affairs placed back in the control of the full government of a reunified China.
Push for a unified Korean peninsula by the year 2100 by lifting up the North’s economic status and by reconciling both Koreas & pushing both together in a spirit of mutual collaboration and unification.
European Policy
Ukraine: all Russian-seized territory through excluding Crimea must be returned to a restored sovereign, independent Ukraine. Ukraine must accept Russian minority and language rights, with general amnesties declared and national reconciliations conducted.
Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus must choose to either form an economic union unto themselves together and thereafter join the European Common Market, or to join the European Union as separate entities. Participation in the global markets will be contingent on either outcome.
The EU: maintain as-is, as a guarantor of continued peace and stability on the continent, allowing only differing types of national governments as the only reform to enable the integration of Russia and Turkey.
Demand that the UK either rejoin the EU or otherwise become integrated into an economic union with the United States to ensure longterm political stability of the island nation.
Demand that European states, once Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine are integrated economically with the European Union either as a union themselves or individually, demilitarize and hold military expenditures per country to less than 2% of GDP.
Nuclear Policy
Pursue and achieve total disarmament of all nuclear warheads by the year 2100. Any warhead existing thereafter should be in trust and in property of the UN Security Council, usable only with the acclamation of all permanent members of that council.
Every nation not in the permanent UN Security Council should immediately denuclearize their arsenal, by 2035 at the latest.
The permanent members of the United Nations Security Council should reduce their personal warhead stockpiles to 300 maximum warheads by 2050, and 100 by 2070.
Middle East Policy
Demand that the existing Islamic monarchies and theocracies either become popularly sovereign democracies or otherwise place legislative and constitutional restrictions on their arbitrary, inherited, or religious executives.
Recognize the State of Palestine as a legal entity having existed since 1947, with all inherent and explicit rights of national defense, finances, and foreign affairs therein.
Cut off all diplomatic, military, and economic relations with the state of Israel indefinitely until such time as they are compliant with the nuclear non-proliferation treatises and other international law.
Mandate the cessation of construction of new settlements in the West Bank.
Expel all Israeli settlers in the West Bank who settled after the year 2000. Every settler who came before will then be allowed to choose between remaining as a citizen of the reconstituted Palestine or returning to Israel, with full monetary compensation made (for all indignities, harm, economic hardship suffered), paid directly to the Palestinian people in all cases from the wealth and labor of expropriated settler Israelis.
Mandate that all Palestinians be allowed free entry and exit through the entirety of the West Bank and Gaza, with no armed Israeli presence allowed in any part of the West Bank or Gaza.
Mandate that Israel, such as it is, reconstruct through their own labor and finances all destroyed property in Gaza, the West Bank, Lebanon, Syria, and any other such place the Israeli state, such as it is, destroyed either actively or passively, since 1967.
Mandate that Israel leave all Syrian, Lebanese, and Palestinian territory including Gaza immediately.
Mandate that Israel allow the return of all property seized (or full repayment, at the preference of the survivor’s family) during the Nakba, without sabotage.
Mandate the arrest and extradition of all pending International Court of Justice defendants in the cases involving crimes committed by the state of Israel, such as it is.
Mandate that Israel surrender to the state of Palestine the whole of the Negev, including Beersheeba, to connect the territory of Gaza with that of the West Bank.
Once a reconstituted Palestine has established its sovereignty, a popular referendum shall be held in both every 10 years for next hundred years posing the question: shall Palestine and Israel unite under one state or remain as separate sovereign entities, with full and equal rights for all citizens enshrined in both countries? If ever a majority in both decide yes, then that must be allowed to happen.
vi. Military Affairs
Cut Wasteful Spending
Our military will be smarter, smaller, and vastly better than the status quo.
The Navy
Reduce the number of active aircraft carriers to six by 2035 and to three by 2050.
Define the United States Navy as composing the following forces, each consisting of new, modernized and streamlined classes of ships:
6 carriers, then 3 carriers (see above).
0 battleships (no change from the status quo).
20 heavy cruisers (an increase of 12).
100 destroyers (an increase of 55).
50 littoral combat ships (an increase of 32).
200 submarines (an increase of 128).
An increase to 10, or 20, whichever is closest, of all other ship classifications.
The Navy should, in times of national wartime emergency, be able to scale production up to produce four times the above amount in four years.
The Army
Pull all US Armed Forces safely out of all bases and locations not directly owned by the United States, or not located in North & South America.
Reduce the number of active duty frontline soldiers to 300,000 men. Reduce the number of reserves to 450,000.
The So-Called Space Force
Abolish the US Space Force. Support creation of a UN Space Force.
Create a United States Missile Force as a replacement of the Space Force. NASA should be a constituent member of the Missile Force.
The Air Force
Sunset the manned jet fighter/bomber by 2035, and replace it with a fully capable, smaller and more capable unmanned jet fighter/bomber by 2035, with a goal to sunset that class of armament by 2050, provided current military trends continue (replaced by more advanced drones and missiles).
The National Guard
Replace the National Guard with the United States Civic Defense Force, a part-time voluntary citizen’s militia, with an initial target recruitment goal of 1.2 million individuals that shall not be deployed at any time to any foreign territory.
vii. Conclusion
There is little else to say. This national project is the only viable roadmap to regaining political power and utilizing it in such a way that betters everyone’s lives, thus ensuring long-term institutionalization of a political process and party established herein.
Things may change. Goals will be redefined. As coalitions adopt these paradigms, new concerns will be raised. That all is fine, so long as we don’t lose our eyes on the ball: supreme government authority and the will to use it to improve the lives of our citizens. How it is done: this is merely my sketch. I do not pretend to speak for everyone. I only speak firstly, and by the privilege of the first mover, claim the basis for which other ideas and plans should be judged against.
At least, if we have failed in 2029, we will know exactly why: they did not adopt this modus operandi. No other options would remain possible.
